5th Annual Beer with the Bard

James Pack/ April 14, 2019

It’s the time of year again when the Tucson Fringe Festival celebrates the birthday of William Shakespeare. Every year on a weekend close to April 23, we host the Beer with the Bard Pub Crawl. We find a few different venues around Tucson that will host some Shakespeare inspired performances. Sometimes there are scenes from his plays and other times there are fun performances like the entirety of Romeo and Juliet in 10 minutes. Each venue has a different performance and we often have three or four venues along the crawl. This year’s crawl is happening Sunday, April 28, 2019.

This year we start off at Sky Bar on the corner of fifth street and fourth avenue. This is where presold tickets are retrieved, and other tickets can be purchased along with other fun items. We then move down the avenue to Passé-Bar/Café for another performance. We finish off the crawl down fourth avenue further south at The Boxyard, fourth avenue’s newest stylized restaurant and bar area. There are two tours. The first begins at 1pm finishing around 3pm. The second begins at 2pm finishing around 4pm. We spend approximately 45 minutes at each venue.

Despite the title of the event, consuming beer or alcohol is not required. You can enjoy a soda or simply water while watching the performances; however, you must be 21-years-old to attend the event. Each of our venues also provides food for anyone needing a late lunch during the crawl. The general ticket is $10. Anyone who brings a fringe button from any year past receives a discount and only pays $7 for a ticket. VIP tickets are also available for $25 and they include priority seating as well as one $5 drink ticket at each venue. One ticket plus three drinks and priority seating. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for each tour. Tickets sell out fast. Get yours now!
