What happens when you as an artist lend your talent to another artist? When  you bend your idea of what your art is? When you blend your chosen medium with another artistic medium? Don’t know? Wanna find out?

B/L/ENDING FORMS is an artistic collaboration between you and another artist of a different medium (theatre, dance, poetry, music, visual, magic, puppetry, etc).  We’re inviting you to pair up with another artists to create an original work that combines both media, both of your talents. If you don’t have a partner in mind, or are open to working with new people, we’ll pair you up.

B/L/ENDING FORMS will culminate in an exhibition / performance (exhi-formance???) of whatever you and your partner have created on July 20th, 2019 at Steinfeld Warehouse. If it’s a static work of art, we’ll hang it on a wall. If it’s a performance you’ll have a stage. If it’s undefinable, well, the Steinfeld Warehouse is pretty flexible.

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE???

Send an email to info@tucsonfringe.org before June 10th with an artist statement and/or resume and/or sample of your work. If you’re applying as a pair be sure to let us know that, otherwise we’ll pair you up with another artist.  If we have more artists than we have space and time we’ll do a lottery / drawing to see who gets to participate.  All artists will be notified by June 15th.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Once you’ve been notified that you’ll be participating in B/l/ending Forms, you’ll have 5 weeks to create. If you need space to meet with your partner, we can help you find that. If you need tech (lighting, sound) we can help you with that too. We’ll check up on you weekly to see if there’s anything we can do to facilitate and support your process.

HOW DOES THE ACTUAL EVENT WORK?

It depends on what you create? If you create a performance, you’ll have up to 30 minutes to do your thang (depends on how many performances we have). If the finished product is a static work of art, you’ll have a space in the Steinfeld Warehouse to display it appropriately. If it’s something else, we’ll work with  you to figure out the best way to display the fruits of your work.

WHO WILL BE THERE?

This event will be free and open to the public. We’ll use our social media presence and mailing lists to invite our Fringe Audience and we’ll assume you’ll do your part to spread the word as well.  We’ll provide hors d’oeuvre and beverages, cuz we’re classy like that.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING?

There is no application or participation fee.

WHO OWNS THE WORK WHEN IT’S COMPLETE?

You do, of course!
